What tools do people use in their SP2010 Development environments? I'm in the process of building a list to give to our offshore team to rebuild our SP2010 DEV VMs and was wondering what useful tools other people recommend. So far my list looks something like this:

Sharepoint Designer 2010

CKS:DEV

SAF - Sharepoint Action Framework

Sharepoint Manager 2010

U2U CAML Query Builder

.NET Reflector

ULS Viewer

SPDispose Checker

Pixie

Firefox and Firebug

and maybe

Sharepoint 2010 Calendar Overlays and Exchange

One of the new features of Sharepoint 2010 is the ability to have overlay Sharepoint and Exchange Calendars in one view using overlays.

On my first attempt at configuring this the webpart displayed the error:

"Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority"

After a bit of digging it seems the issue is caused when you have a Third-Party SSL certificate (or self generated in our case) on your Outlook Web Access App, the root certificate isn't trusted by Sharepoint by default. To enable SP 2010 to trust the the root ca perform the following steps:

Go to "Central Administration" and click on "Security"

Under "General Security" click on "Manage trust"

Give the Trust Relationship a Name (e.g. OWA )

Root certificate for the trust relationship: upload the root certificate for third-party CA

Click OK

London Sharepoint 2010 Community Launch Party, May 12, 2010

Also posted on the UK Sharepoint Users Group Forum

In the spirit of Joel Oleson's post myself and my colleague Debbie Watson thought it might be fun to run a Sharepoint launch party for the community in London (we hadn't seen any mention of one anywhere else).

We thought we could start by watching Stephen Elop's keynote live and provide a mechanism to take part in the live Q&A.

After that we might want to have a drink or two - perhaps get some sponsorship to pay for a couple of beers and some food.  Microsoft may be good enough to send some Sharepoint 2010 merchandise in our direction?

Other ideas that have been mentioned for other events happening across the world include getting a DJ, having an ask the expert's Q&A afterwards, get customer's to talk about there plans for 2010 etc etc.

Other launch party's are detailed here

Who would be interested in attending?

What would you like to see at the party?

Do you have any suggested locations (we have one or two in mind).

Do you have any vendor contacts who might like to sponsor the event?

Please feel free to tweet, email me or leave comments in this SUGUK thread.

Windows Phone (7) - iPhone Killer OS?

The Windows Phone v7 development platform will be unveiled this week at MIX10 and will build on :

* .NET
* Silverlight
* XNA platform
* Microsoft’s developer tools
* Web 2.0 standards

Looking at a walkthrough of the hone on channel9 this really could be the iPhone killer O.S.

Really looking forward to getting my hands on this OS and also looking at it's integration with Sharepoint 2010

The phone certainly looks different from other phones on the market (far right):

Starter Master Pages for Sharepoint 2010

Randy Drisgill has created 2 minimal master pages that can be used as a starting point of a SP2010 bradning project complete with minimal HTML style and are commented throughout. (Microsoft now provide a minimal.master which is for specific pages that require minimal chrome)
